Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett is a beast on the field but fantasy football players know he’s even better when his favorite quarterback, Jay Cutler, is on board too. Now Martellus Bennett has been credited with what might be the best quote of the football season after he compared Jay Cutler to Jesus.

Cutler has been nursing a hamstring injury this season and it was looking like he might sit out the fourth week when the Bears were scheduled to play the Oakland Raiders. Cutler didn’t sit out though and thankfully was able to get out on the field and get a win for Chicago.

Martellus had 11 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Sunday game. It was a close call but Cutler was able to pull out a win over the Raiders with a score of 22-20.

The Chicago Bears are not considered a very strong team this year. The Bears defense is one of the weakest in the league. When Jay Cutler isn’t playing, it’s almost a sure thing that the Bears will either lose or they might have a fluke win over a lousy team. When Cutler plays though, they tend to do a lot better. More importantly to Martellus Bennett, when Jay Cutler plays, he has a much better game.

That is why Martellus came to Jay Cutler’s defense when many were talking about how soft he is and criticizing Cutler for the large paycheck he gets. When talking about Jay Cutler and how harsh fans and foes have been, Bennett said, “They threw rocks at Jesus, & Jesus was an excellent guy who did a lot of awesome stuff.” Apparently Martellus Bennett also thinks Jay Cutler is an excellent guy.
