Marvel is getting ready to film their first female superhero movie and Ronda Rousey thinks she’s perfect for the part. The current UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion has already been in a few films but scoring the role of Captain Marvel would be Rousey’s first major role in a movie.
Ronda Rousey wants to play the role of Captain Marvel, whose real identity is Carol Danvers. The UFC fighter is looking to retire within the next few years and given her huge star power, it makes sense that Rousey wants to make a move over to movies.
Rousey is known for her “Ask Me Anything” sessions on Reddit. So recently when she was given the opportunity, Ronda Rousey came right out and put her hat in the ring for a role in a Marvel movie. She didn’t want a bit part either. Instead, Rousey wants to be a part of history after suggesting Marvel cast her as Captain Marvel in the upcoming movie about a female superhero of the same name.
The upcoming superhero movie isn’t expected to be in theaters until 2018. That means the timing is perfect for Rousey, who likely will be retired from the UFC by the time the movie comes out. Rousey is pretty into the idea of making the Capitain Marvel movie and even posted some mock ups of herself as the superhero on her Instagram account.
So far the only real downside to Rousey playing the much-anticipated superhero is that her acting chops are pretty fresh. Aside from a role as herself in the “Entourage” movie and another bit part in “Expendables 3,” Ronda hasn’t had much acting experience.
